Halloween in Boston

We just came home from trick-o-treating. Last year we swore we had the best Halloween experience because of Marlborough St. I might have to take it back this year. We left a bit late so we missed a lot of Lilo's friends from school at the neighborhood park. We walked around Marlborough street and of course had to stop by to check out the house on Dartmouth again for a glass of wine and food. (I think the owner knows what a crazy night it is for the parents so he's helping everyone out by serving some much needed alcohol.) It wasn't as over the top as last year with the dining table FULL of food but the servers walking around with food made it a lot more accessible for those of us keeping track of our kids.

But to be honest, the neighborhood felt kind of dead this year. It might also be because we were hanging out with some friends and their kids so it was all 5 adults w/5 kids. So we weren't getting very far. We decided to check out Beacon Hill because we heard that it was another great area to go to during Halloween. It seemed like forever before we finally treked over there but boy, was it festive! Definitely THE place to hang out! There were a ton of people on the streets; it felt like the mall at Christmas time Streets were blocked off from upcoming traffic, which made it really safe for the kids. There was this one particularly cute cobbled stoned street that had balloon arches down the entire block. It was like Mardi Gras but with a New England twist. Very cute very quaint. And the houses are so close to each other that the kids didn't have to walk very far to score more candy. I overheard one person saying that their next door neighbor literally counted 500 people who had come by their house that night CRAZY. Next year, we're skipping Back Bay and going straight for the Hill. Click on the picture above to see more pictures.
