Tuxbury Pond Camping
This weekend, we went on our first camping trip as a family to Tuxbury pond on the NH/MA border. This was everyone, except for Cobra Bubble's first time camping. The GrandCouncilwoman was really apprehensive about going. 1am the night before, she woke me to tell me she was because of the food - we were going with my uncle, who is a chef, and our other friend who is a chef, and the company. They had planned an insane menu for the weekend, and were going to cook with a new contraption which allows any type of cooking over an open fire...which makes for incredible food.
The menu for the weekend included, among other things, 2 Rotisserie Chickens, chicken wings, 1 rotisserie Duck (awesome), 2 Pork Rumps cooked 2 ways, fresh scallops (sashimi and cooked), skirt steak (awesome as usual, fried rice, 3-4 types of sausages, vegetables, fresh bread, and many different types of alcohol.
The kids had a great time swimming, biking, playing the the pond, fishing (nothing was caught) and wreaking havoc in general. The key entertainment for the weekend were the tadpoles and frogs the kids caught, and my friend's daughter learning to bike for the first time. It did rain over the weekend, but only when we were sleeping, and right after we left it started pouring.
A successful weekend, although the next trip (in August), probably won't be as Gourmet.
