Princess Lilo
So, Lilo is obsessed with this Princess thing. Absolutely enamoured. OBSESSED She has this amazing ability to see anything related to Princesses, especially Cinderella. Costco - walking around, of course, she notices the Princess books and videos from across the store, the Cinderella Bike, and the Cinderella costume (Guess who she's going to be for Halloween). Walking into Toys R US, there was this tiny display OUTSIDE for the new Cinderlla DVD- - yep she had to grab one. Billboards..flyers..everywhere.. I finally realize what a lock Disney has on little girls under 10.
She'll put her "party Princess" hat on and sing and dance in front of the mirror.
She once told the Grand Councilwoman "Please don't close my closet door, I want to see my dresses". Some would argue that its environmental, but there's no way. . we don't emphasize it at all that much. Most of our friends who have kids too will agree that its nurture, not nature. (We can have another conversation about Stitch's "male" characteristics)
The funniest story occurred last week as Lilo was walking with her mom in Boston: Lilo has become even more extroverted here in Boston, and says hello to most people who walk by. When she did so once last week, the man responded "Hi Princess." After he walked away, Lilo turned to the Grand Councilwoman and said "Mommy, how did he know I was a princess?"
