I think the kids have ESP. Maybe they're be like Tony and Tia from the Witch Mountain Movies.
A few weeks ago, we were eating dinner and Stitch was making a mess, as usual. He was sitting in his high chair, refusing to drink and screaming, babbling, pointing around, sign-ing please and more in confusion, and just not making sense in general. If you've been around him lately, you'll know that he doesn't make much sense and really only knows how to say "oh-oh".
As the grand councilwoman and I sat there trying to figure out what it was that Stitch wanted, we watch as Lilo got up, walked over to a drawer, got a straw, and placed it in Stitch's cup. Immediately, Stitch stop screaming and started drinking from the straw.
A few days later, there we were again, trying to interpret Stitch's random gestures. as we tried to feed him noodles. This time, Lilo, as she was eating her own dinner, said in a matter-of-fact manner "He wants Rice". So, we got some rice from the rice cooker and had a content child again.
This past Sunday, we were at Dim sum. . Stitch was pointing at something on the table. We kept pointing at items and saying "is this what you want? Is this what you want". Water? Tea? A bun? We couldn't figure out what he wanted to eat? After pointing at everything on the table twice, we asked Lilo "what does he want?". You would think we had learned our lesson and asked earlier. Lilo looked up and pointed at the soy sauce. ... we should have known.
Apparently, this is common for young kids - -to understand each other's babbles. The older sibling does the interpretation. I wonder if MocMoc did that for me?
On a side note, there is a movie made a few years ago. . the "Blair Witch Mountain Project" feature TIA and Tony and many other people from the original movie again. Kinda of an interesting watch on a boring day.
